Riva Energy Assessments

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is now a European Directive. Basically this report explains by way of a chart and recommendations, how you can improve the efficiency of your home. To create your report the domestic energy assessor/surveyor will use Restricted Data Standard Assessment Procedure (Rd SAP) calculations.

Your report will display an energy rating chart on the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC); showing your current energy efficiency rating and the potential rating if you were to carry out the recommendations, the chart shows your carbon Co2 footprint.

The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) report then explains recommendations to increase efficiency and a guide to the cost of such work. These recommended improvements will in most cases include, smaller cheaper improvements such as fitting all radiators with Thermostatic Radiator Valves enabling you to control the temperature in each room of your home, or changing to more efficient light bulbs.

Other improvements we would often suggest might include, upgrading the jacket on your hot water cylinder, or adding a thermostat to the hot water cylinder .

More expensive, intensive technical work would involve replacement windows, wall insulation, and upgrading your boiler to an "A" or "B" rated system. Before undertaking any of our recommendations you should always consult a professional or qualified person in the appropriate field or your local council. You may need approval if you live in a Listed Building or a Conservation area.

What happens to the Energy Performance Certificate once they are completed?

All domestic EPCs are lodged in a central database by our DEAs (through their Accreditation Schemes) and are given an unique reference number. Access to the database is restricted, so only those who have the unique reference number will have access to this information. The EPC can be downloaded and emailed straight to you in PDF format.
